17th Century Flemish Painting, School of Rubens. Venus Mars And Cupid.

Exciting mythological painting of Venus, Mars and Cupid. The composition is extraordinary and captivating. Mars, the God of War, Venus’s lover and father of Cupid is literally disarmed and symbolically defeated by love.

Rubens’s studio in Antwerp was the biggest in Europe. He employed over 100 painters and apprentices. Because of this, there is a possibility that this composition originated in Rubens’s studio.
