18th Century Watercolor Portrait of Sir John Mennes after Anthony van Dyck.
 
This 18th century small sized watercolor portrait, in excellent quality, is very closely related to the original painting by the Flemish Baroque artist, Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641). It pictures Sir John Mennes, a Royal Navy Vice Admiral, around the year 1637. The original painting, in the possession of the Earl of Clarendon, was sold at Sotheby’s in 2010 for $960,000 USD. The watercolor is housed in a Renaissance style Cassetta frame under glass.
Condition is very good.
