19th Century Victorian Oil Painting of English Setter by Robert Cleminson.

 

Stunning 19th century oil painting titled “Stalking Setter “ by the English artist, Robert Cleminson (1864-1906). He was a painter of landscapes, highland game and sporting dogs. Cleminson is best known for his famous painting, “The Monarch of the Glen” which pictures a majestic elk on top of a mountain. He uses loose brush strokes and a rich colorful palette. Cleminson exhibited extensively at the Society of British Artists, Shakespeare Gallery in Pall Mall, London etc... The painting is signed on the lower left,“R. Cleminson“. It is in very good condition. The painting is housed in a period heavy and ornate gilded frame.
