Pair of French Louis XVI Style Ormolu Mounted Green Marble Lidded Urns
 
Superb and most elegant pair of Louis XVI style ormolu mounted Verde Antico Marble lidded urns. Flanking the marble body are scrolled handles, created in the purest baroque style with foliage design. The fire gilded bronzes, with highly burnished finish, are finely chased. Each urn is raised by a square ormolu base with concave corners and fitted reeded bands. The removable lids have a bronze ormolu top. The extremely elegant pair of marble urns are offset by glorious decorative ormolu mountings. These sumptuous urns are a focal point in any grand interior. Period 19th century. Very good condition. Few small hairline cracks touched up.
