Vintage Hand Painted Large 12” Chinese Mudman Figure
 
This spectacular, high quality large mudman is for the advanced collector. It depicts a seated elder; a bearded scholar holding a scroll in his hand. He is dressed in a robe and wearing a scholars cap. The colors are in a traditional scheme and strong with a shiny high gloss glaze. Hands and face are unglazed. This mid-century creation was made by skilled Chinese artisans and follows in a long line of traditional mudmen art. This is a special piece and it is very rare due to its large size. The bottom is incised with a Chinese calligraphic mark.
 
Very good condition with strong colors. The figure is seated on a carved wooden base.
